The name D.A.S.H means Derick which is his first name, Africa where he was born, Struggles which he has been through and still going though and Humbleness which defines him when it comes time to working with other. D.A.S.H was born in Ghana which is a country on the Western part of Africa so which would make him Ghanaian; D.A.S.H arrived in the United States at the age of six. D.A.S.H wrote his first jingle in the 5th grade showing a penchant and skill for song writing at an early age. D.A.S.H takes a lot of pride and ownership when it comes to his song writing, what separates him from other song writers and singer is that he doesn’t need paper to write a song it comes directly out of his head and into the microphone then when song is fully recorded and completed it goes on paper. D.A.S.H arrived on the local music scene in the suburbs of Chicago in 2006 with his first song that was titled “You Were” then his second song was called “Chance” and many others came after the very rapidly. D.A.S.H also has collaborated with other local musicians such as Kofi Costari and Cell-fis. He had also spent time performing around the local scene.
Similar to other artist of African ancestry, D.A.S.H’s music mixes urban music such as Pop, R&B, reggae and some African Dance Hall. The diversity in his music has allowed D.A.S.H to write and perform to a wider audience. D.A.S.H’s style is reminiscent of artist such artist as Akon and Usher. D.A.S.H credits his musical influences from artiest such as Boyz 2 Men, Akon, Usher, Neyo, Shia, Genuwine, and R Kelly. D.A.S.H recently launched his new single “Where The Party At” and is hoping to break into the main stream. D.A.S.H is currently unaffiliated and unsigned to any label.
