Rarely does lightning strike in the same place twice. But in the case of New Orleans' super, swooning crooner RANTZ DAVIS, that’s exactly what happened. Lightning struck once in the New Orleansneighborhood of Hollygrove and gave the world Lil Wayne. Now, fifteen years later from that same Hollygrove block, New Orleans has given birth to RANTZ DAVIS, The New King of R&B.
RANTZ's is a Cinderella story. With a record of good local sales and supportive Urban and CHR radio stations like WQUE 93.3FM and KKND 102.9FM spinning his single in heavy rotation, popular UAC, WYLD 98.5FM, quickly followed suit completing the local audience “trifecta” in NOLA. In fact, RANTZis the first local artist in 6 years to be played on market leader. RANTZ plans to make more history.
Organically losing local boundaries, theRANTZ affect has spread to other Louisianastations like KQXL 106.7FM in Baton Rougeand KRRQ 95.5FM in Lafayette. Remarkably, requests for his song ring the phones at stations in Georgia, like WIIZ 97.9FM in Augusta and WFXE 104.9FM inColumbus. Illustrating his brand has international appeal, Japan-based Tower Records has signed on as a major distributor of RANTZ's music. He was also a featured artist in Japan's BMP and Bounce Magazine. Additionally, was chosen as a 2010 Rising Icon by Grey Goose Entertainment and fans recently voted him the Urban Vision Award's 2011 Artist of the Year. With 100+ songs recorded, RANTZ has just released his third #1 ballad "Nobody." RANTZ's passion doesn't end at his quest to becoming The New King of R&B. The Dillard University graduate and alumnus of the St. Augustine High School's Marching 100 was raised to be and considers himself a true “gentleman.” He maintains a strong balance between his career and community by actively promoting positive messages and empowerment and through his involvement in several philanthropic endeavors. He regularly participates in a high school peer mentoring program, fundraisers for worthy causes(St. Jude Children's Hospital Foundation; the NAACP), and is especially passionate about the need for arts in education.
